Maui 2017: The Departure

Oh, where to begin. I'm sitting on our Lanai, suitcases packed, collecting thoughts as we wait to check out. I'm finally adjusted to Hawaiian Standard Time 🤔. I'm sufficiently tanned. This trip has been a whirlwind. Where did the time go? As much as I preach to slow down and take time to relax, it seems we did a lot of running this time. We're used to coming for at least two weeks, and this trip boiled down to "only" 9 solid days.

We did see a lot. Even so, there are a whole list of things that I wishfully hoped we could do and didn't.

- Scuba (and I know I'll catch some crap over that.)

- Massage

- Curley's Banana Bread

- Drum Circle at Little Beach

- Have dinner at a gourmet restaurant (other than Mama's)

- Go to Pizza Madness

- There are others.

On the other hand, we managed to get in quite a few first time experiences.

- Snorkeling at Honolua Bay

- Sunset on Haleakala

- Maui Wine and Ulupalakua Ranch in Upcountry

- Maluaka Beach

I'll be reflecting on this trip for the next nine months, as we prepare for the next in February. This one will be at least three weeks, and maybe four. I'll also be doing some more thorough reviews on things we experienced, to help you plan your trip.

Oh, there's the damned Banana-Mac Pancakes. Shit. Oh, no they're freaking spectacularly good. It just means we're sitting at Kihei Caffe (yes, two f's) having the last breakfast of our trip. It's become a tradition, and a sad one at that.

Almost check-out time as I finish this up. Heading out for the last time. We're going to Lahaina, before our evening flight.

Mahalo for reading and aloha for now...I'll just leave you with a few more pics of our last few hours here, as we "waste" time between our 11am checkout and our 9:20pm flight.

A tasty and inexpensive little find in Lahaina. The Aloha Mixed Plate, right on the water.

A visit to the Maui Tropical Plantation. Beautiful grounds and a nice gift shop. This is also where you would go for the longest zipline on Maui (3200 ft.).

Kanaha Beach Park. Home of the Kiteboard Surfers.

Another new restaurant (for us), Da Kitchen. This is Spam Musubi.
